The Ornithological Wonder

Harriet is a favorite repeat customer who follows us on Facebook and gets our e-mailings. When she saw the Metal Madness promotion, she decided it was time to think about framing a print her sister had recently sent her, and to see what we could come up with in metal!

Sometimes an image calls for a simple line of a frame. This flat-front metal profile echoes the flamingo legs- long and skinny! We went for a very shiny finish- Nielsen's Crimson, which approaches black but is really a deep deep purply red. The mat is Crescent's Dusty Blue, a very grey blue that picks up the highlights in the flamingo feathers and the color of the water. The finished result gives the picture movement- like the water is actually flowing around the birds while they gracefully feed. And because the colors contrast the bright colors of the birds' feathers instead of matching them, they pop just like they should!

Thank you to Harriet for the challenge- keep them coming!
